Bank Wire Transfer: Lowest Price
Bank wire is the preferred payment method for serious precious metals buyers. The approximately 4% discount over credit card pricing adds up fast: on a $25,000 gold order, you save roughly $1,000. Wire transfers are processed through the Federal Reserve's Fedwire system and typically clear within 1-3 business days. SD Bullion provides wiring instructions at checkout, including the receiving bank, routing number, account number and reference code.
Wire transfers initiated before your bank's cutoff time (usually 2-4 PM ET) are often received same day. There is no maximum order size for wire payments. Your price is locked at checkout — you are not exposed to spot price movements during the clearing period. Most banks charge $20-$30 for an outgoing domestic wire, which is a trivial cost relative to the 4% savings on the metal purchase.
